I had my own message to bear with my first order of cheap silicone bracelets. I was organizing a fundraiser for the local high school. Jimmy Miller was running for class president, and he asked me to order some t-shirts to raise awareness for his race for class president. Everybody does t-shirts, I thought. So instead I took the initiative and ordered cheap silicone bracelets.
It was quite the creative process to decide what color I wanted for the cheap silicone bracelets. I finally decided on black, since black is a color that speaks power. But what message should I say on the bracelets? After some careful consideration, I ordered the black bracelets to say “Power to the man!” That should really put Jimmy in the running, or so I thought. Unfortunately, when voting day came around, the people voting for the other person, Marjorie Mann, thought the cheap silicone bracelets were supporting her, and she won the race!
