The bolt is related to the screw but it has a rounded head, a flat side and one end threaded to pin, screw or rivet, and is used to hold pieces in a structure, usually of large volume. With the popularization of the sale of unassembled furniture for assembly by the user, new mechanisms such as bolting services have been investigated to facilitate assembly. The box bolt eccentric is a mechanism that allows a strong grip on reconstituted wood furniture without specialized tools, requiring only a screwdriver or Allen wrench. For assembly, the bolt is manually fed into the part with the thread. The box fits into an eccentric hole in another piece. By overlaying two pieces and tightening the eccentric, the pieces are tightly secured.

Are they really able to conquer the world of the future?

A robot is a very broad concept. They come in all shapes and sizes and rarely appear on the copies that regularly pop up in movies. Of the robotic arm for assembling cars in a tin, but cautious older machine that washes: they all fall within the definition of robot.

The robot is used for many applications because the science is now able to look the figures tasks to be undertaken. And sometimes that’s quite impressive over. But before a massive robot maid there are still some things that must be done. Some of the challenges that the science is still waiting.

Self-consciousness
A robot differs on some points of a thinking being. Self-awareness is such an important difference. A robot can do things ‘learn’ or be programmed to do something, but they can never own feedback on the behavior and consequently, on the mistakes made. This means that a robot has difficulty with new situations. And that is precisely the reason why robots currently really only be found in factories. The robots have a structured environment. If you put them in the living room where children run back and forth, a robot does not know what to do. Probably he was just doing what he always does and so make mistakes. But there ‘he is not aware of. The fact that robots are not aware of himself adjusting to new situations so difficult. The challenge now is to provide robots self-awareness and ensure that they can link back and so can learn from mistakes. Only a robot could soon be in the turbulent world in which things change very quickly, operate. It is obviously easier when robots will soon learn from each other, for example using a special kind of web .

Nucleaire energy and security: how’s that? In Singapore, they think so.The country is considering underground nuclear power stations, an idea by Hooman Peimani researcher.

All world leaders seem to have had a bit of nuclear energy. Although it is only because the electorate they impose. But the idea of Peimani, scientist at the National University of Singapore, even seems to make the public feel.

He proposed for reactors to be buried. And the government of Singapore is excited about the idea. The situation in Japan benefit that decision.

The idea is quite simple. Place the reactors at about thirty to fifty meters in hard rock and let them do their job. If it goes wrong, the reactor is already surrounded by stone and radiation can not escape.
The cost of such a reactor are not trivial. To make it all manageable, the buried reactor must not be to big and it wolud give less energy. But it is feasible. In fact, the designs for these mini-reactors (which in itself is a lot safer than the larger specimens) are ready.

It is a great solution, but Japan does not think it is a good idea for their country. Areas that sometimes may have to deal with earthquakes, are not eligible for burial reactors. It is simply too dangerous. This also applies to countries with a high water table.
The government of Singapore is currently examining options. The situation in Japan will obviously make us to search for more safe ways of getting the energy.

Internet Security in today’s world

People love the Internet. It is a wellspring of information, resources and entertainment. It is also Pandora’s Box waiting to be opened and once it is good luck getting it closed again. A client of mine was surfing the Internet on her lunch break, only to have what appeared to be a Microsoft Windows shield appear warning her of a virus. It instructed her to click on the link to remove the virus. People have been conditioned to trust certain icons which malicious programmers – typically called ‘Crackers’ take advantage of. One click later and now not only did she still have a virus – so did the entire company network.

The common questions asked by the company’s owner (Justifiably so) – Why didn’t the company’s virus program block it? How did it get through the firewall? Shouldn’t the IT support, specifically Security, have been able to prevent this? The answer is yes and no. The job of preventing infections to a computer or a network is a constant work in progress. Close one loophole and the Cracker will go and find another. Functionality for the user has to be taken into account as well. It’s possible to tighten the group policies to the extent that viruses most likely won’t get in, yet this restricts the user so much they might as well have a virus as the result is the same – they can’t do anything.

The answer, while not a perfect one, requires teamwork between the user at the desktop and whoever is managing the Security. It is up to IT to make things as safe as possible without affecting the day to day work of the company. It is up to the user to use discretion on what is done while using a company computer. With today being ‘Cyber Monday’ companies’ bandwidth will be monopolized with people using their down time to surf the Internet for good deals. Any Security specialist is realistic in knowing that viruses get through, it’s just part of the job. That doesn’t mean you as the user, have to unlock the door and let them in.

A burglar-proof home is an impossible feat. The only thing the modern homeowner can hope to accomplish is to deter the criminal enough that they do not violate your residence. Many companies and individuals can offer home security tips, most notably community organizations and security companies. Some of these tips are highly accurate and very commonly used practices. Some are inefficient and do no good.

Burglars essentially operate under the criteria of two things: stealth and speed. According to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and most law enforcement agencies, a burglars primary goal is to be able to steal from residence without being seen or caught. The second factor that plays into a burglar’s mind is how fast he or she can commit the crime. If a home does not meet this criteria, the likelihood for a break-in drops by over 90 percent.

The same criteria that prevents a burglar generally will stop stalkers and rapists as well. The longer it takes for a person to enter the home, the more likely it is they will merely walk away. The best way to ensure proper discouragement for a break-in is to add multiple locks and defenses at points of entry. Double-pained windows with secure locks deter a burglar from entering by those methods. Multiple locks on doors and multiple doors can also discourage a would-be robber. A common practice employed by people is to have all the doors tightly secured except for the one in the garage. This will require the burglar to break into the garage first in order to enter the home, a feat most will walk away from.

In addition, noise is one of the starling factors that can make a burglar turn and run. Besides a personal security system with an access code that is monitored by a company, simple devices attached to the door can frighten off the thief. Placing jingling bells or chimes above entry points or on door handles will make noise when used, signaling to occupants that an entry has occurred.

The most important home security tip, however, is to simply attempt to burglarize your home yourself. Have someone tightly secure your home from the inside and then attempt to enter your property. Think like a burglar and determine if there is anything of value easily available to them. Attempt to enter through doors and windows as well as the garage. If you fail to enter the home or attain anything of value, it’s most likely that the burglar will also fail.

Protect your home or business with alarm featuring video surveillance, intrusion prevention, fire safety services and more.

A lost car key can be a very frustrating thing. Many new cars come with complicated door locks as well as ignition switches which are equipped with an immobilizer making replacement keys and options difficult. But when you know you have a qualified locksmith service at your call, the rest is easy. Even if you have no replacements for the keys you have lost, a qualified locksmith can provide you with options pertaining to the make and model of most older and newer cars on the road today. Here are some options you may consider if you have lost the keys to your car:
• Call your dealership and see what they are able to do. This can be time consuming as you may have to bring your car in and wait for as long as your dealer requires. Dealerships can also be more expensive than a locksmith, requiring a costly labor fee.
• Calling a locksmith is a better alternative as they can come to your home saving you both time and money. A qualified locksmith will come to your home, evaluate your problem and charge only according to the specific needs of your key replacement.
• If you have the code to your lost key, give this information to your locksmith. He will be able to use the code from the car codes list and simply make a new replacement key.
• If you no longer have the code from your lost key, give your locksmith the make, model and (VIN) Vehicle Identification Number of your car. Using this information, your locksmith can then find the codes and create a new key from them using a key blank and new transponder chip.
A qualified car key maker is an inexpensive and convenient option for lost key replacement.

Lanyards are the perfect conference promotional giveaway. These inexpensive, brightly-colored lanyards can be customized to include your conference name and passed out to attendees as soon as they arrive. Businesses wishing to put something into the hands of conference attendees can accomplish this goal by providing them on tables to be picked up or included in welcome packages.
Conference promotional products are great ways to network and strike up conversations with potential customers, colleagues, and suppliers. As attendees mingle and begin to meander past the displays, free lanyards can bring them to your table and the the perfect opportunity to strike up a conversation. As you hand him or her the lanyard, include a business card, pamphlets, and other contact information that will help you to stay in touch. Lanyards are highly visible and come in several colors. They’ll attract attention in the midst of the displays and piles of paper on other tables.
Lanyards can be imprinted or sewn with your choice of artwork, mottos, names and numbers of businesses, churches, community organizations, and conference sponsors. The sky’s the limit to what you can put onto the lanyards, all of which is customized to your satisfaction.
Many conference promotional materials end up in the trash can when the attendee goes home. Lanyards offer practical value and will be tucked away for future use. They’ll find their way to a customer’s keys, a personal watercraft out on the lake, or in the hands of children at home. The long-lasting nature of lanyards means the artwork and message on them will be a constant reminder of the conference. If business information is included on the lanyards, it isn’t going anywhere and will be in the hands of your customers for years to come.
Order Lanyards will provide customized lanyards to your specific wishes. Upload the artwork you want included on your tube, woven, or polyester lanyards and send it to the company with your order when you order online. A digitalized proof will be returned to you for your approval and production will begin. Shipping is free on many orders. Your order will normally arrive within two weeks of the time you submitted your order.

They are purchased not only for their affordability, but for their message. Fundraisers, government rallies and religious statements are just a few of the ways these simple, yet powerful message bearers are used today.

I had my own message to bear with my first order of cheap silicone bracelets. I was organizing a fundraiser for the local high school. Jimmy Miller was running for class president, and he asked me to order some t-shirts to raise awareness for his race for class president. Everybody does t-shirts, I thought. So instead I took the initiative and ordered cheap silicone bracelets.

It was quite the creative process to decide what color I wanted for the cheap silicone bracelets. I finally decided on black, since black is a color that speaks power. But what message should I say on the bracelets? After some careful consideration, I ordered the black bracelets to say “Power to the man!” That should really put Jimmy in the running, or so I thought. Unfortunately, when voting day came around, the people voting for the other person, Marjorie Mann, thought the cheap silicone bracelets were supporting her, and she won the race!
